Avery Name Plaque

Since names are sometimes difficult to find custom, and my family tends to pick some unique names, I got into the habit of doing name plaques.  What do you mean by habit you say?  Well, this is the second one.  I lost the original for her older sister, but I try to blend in a large variety of themes.

As Disney has a large influence on my family, this was based on Brave back when it came out, hence the Gaelic designs and such.  Her room was light yellow, so I pulled in gold and blue, which I feel are very complimentary colors.  I then used a research tool to identify what Avery means and put it on the plaque.  It's on her wall even today, and she is nearly 3.

This was done using a burning tool, so it began as pyrography.  The colors come from wood pencils which take into the wood better due to the wax content.  They are easy to find at art stores like Michael's and A.C. Moore.  Completed a while ago, but it is still one I'm proud of.
